Windows 8

Microsoft has released the Windows 8 operating system in October 2012 as a successor of the highly popular Windows 7 operating system. The new operating system introduces several new features and design concepts that change the way Windows is used rather dramatically. One of the biggest -and highly controversial- changes is the system’s new start screen that it loads in to by default. The interface, optimized for touch-based devices but also accessible via mouse and keyboard, is the new central control panel of the system. Windows 8 is also the first Microsoft operating system with a built-in store that users can visit to download and install free and commercial apps on the system.
